Paris Jackson Haircut at the Top Ce...

Paris Jackson seems to return to normal life after her father’s shocking demise. Paris was recently spotted at a salon where she was accompanied by her brothers and bodyguards. The salon which offers services to the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez is located on Melrose Avenue.

The 11-year-old Paris Jackson recently visited Andy Lecompton’s shop at L.A, with her two brothers – Prince Michael and Blanket. At this top celebrity salon, she received treatment for hair and nails. Surprisingly, her guardian Katherine Jackson was nowhere to be seen as the kids went to the salon and came back after getting their hair done.

Michael Jackson’s offspring got her nails painted black before her hair was washed and cut. This time her hair was not whisked away by her bodyguards. Remember, the last Paris Jackson Haircut had attracted lot of attention. It was said that after her haircut, Paris’s hair was taken away by her bodyguards and put in a plastic bag. The Jackson’s did not leave even a single strand of hair as it was swept from the salon to ensure that her DNA could not be used for paternity testing.

Comparatively speaking, this recent Paris Jackson haircut was a low key affair. However, other customers present at the salon said there was something strange about the kids. They hardly showed any sort of emotion. They weren’t like normal children at all because they seemed to have no joy or playfulness about them. This is probably because the kids have yet to recover completely following MJ’s death.

Recently, another celebrity offspring got her hair done. Suri Cruise – the three-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes also got a new hairstyle. She swapped her usual loose locks for a ponytail fastened with a pretty white ribbon and clips.

I have to say that celebrity hairstyles are always a widely discussed topic. Be it a Paris Jackson haircut or Suri Cruise haircut, celebrity hairstyles will always attract huge attention from everyone.

The Canadian Hairstylist of the Yea...

Hi ScissorBoy Fans,

Hey Everyone, I have been in Canada for the last few weeks and was able to attend The Contessa awards ceremony which announced the winners for 2009 recently. The Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards are Canada’s longest-running and most prestigious awards honoring excellence and creativity in salons and among salon professionals across Canada.

I attended this annual gala and got a chance to meet a lot of awesome hairstylists and cosmetologists from across Canada. I am sharing my experience at the Contessas below.

Founded in 1988, the Contessas are produced by Salon Communications Inc, the owner of industry publication Salon Magazine. The standards set by Contessa winners contribute to the ongoing betterment of the Canadian beauty industry. The winners were announced on November 1, 2009 at The Sheraton Centre during the annual Contessa Gala.

More than 1200 industry professionals from across the country gathered at the Sheraton Centre Hotel to applaud the efforts of stylists in hair, makeup, nails, salon interior design, business and community service. The awards ceremony was as stylish and entertaining as ever and was hosted by hairstylist and TV personality Bill Rowley. Apart from the entertaining multimedia presentations, I also enjoyed live performances by violinist Dr. Draw and martial arts masters Team 2Xtreme. The presence of industry personalities like Kevin Murphy, Damien Carney and Anne Mincey made these awards more memorable.

You could see the excitement & appreciation amongst crowd when Chad Taylor of Vancouver’s Moods Hair Salon was announced as one of the night’s biggest winner! He took home the night’s top honor, Canadian Hairstylist of the Year, as well as British Columbia Hairstylist of the Year. This year’s awards saw a debut of Master Colorist of the Year award which recognizes Canada’s most experienced and creative color technicians. This award went to Michelle Ateb of Milica SalonSpa in Langley.

Orbit Salon Chicago proves that Cos...

Orbit Salon Chicago is the place where Tabatha’s Salon Takeover season 2 visits. I have seen this program during its first season and inferred that cosmetology education is so much important for stylists. The salons which hire stylists should also be careful about the cosmetologists they choose.

If you don’t know what Tabatha’s Salon Takeover is, then let me explain it to you. Tabatha’s Salon Takeover is an American reality television series on the Bravo network, in which former Shear Genius contestant and hair salon owner Tabatha Coffey helps failing salons. The program debuted last year and travels to Orbit Salon Chicago in Lakeview for its premiere of season 2.

I won’t talk much about the show as I feel such shows are only entertaining and do little to help the cosmetology industry. Though their intention of helping struggling salons is a nice initiative, but I feel producing better cosmetologists is more important than supporting failing salons. I am of the opinion that if a salon has well trained & groomed stylists, it would never struggle. The only way to produce better cosmetologists is by providing awesome cosmetology education.

One of the online series which provides online cosmetology education is the Cutting Edge Hair Show, produced by Scissorboy. It’s a fantastic program featuring different stylists in each of their episodes who teach you something new. The best thing about this program is that while watching the stylists perform their job you get all the training in cosmetology, without even realizing it.

I have decided that instead of watching Tabatha’s Salon Takeover in Orbit Salon Chicago, I would prefer to watch the Cutting Edge Hair Show. The former program only shows you the plight of some salons whereas the later online cosmetology program aims to create better cosmetologists. We require initiative and creative programs to help this industry flourish and not the ones that show its plight!
